Tuesday, 25 November 2008, Kuala Lumpur -- The Sarawak Aluminium Company (SALCO) smelter project was profiled at the 5th International Aluminium Conference 2008 held in Kuala Lumpur on 25 – 26 November 2008.

The keynote presentation on SALCO was delivered by John Erskine, Rio Tinto Alcan’s Vice President Business Development Asia.

Of interest to the conference participants were challenges faced by the project in terms of getting skilled labour, its efforts in addressing environmental management, and community consultation.

An exhibition on the SALCO project was also displayed at the conference venue. *Participants at the 2-day conference came from Malaysia, China, other parts of Asia, the Middle East, Australia and Europe.
